Greetings,
Here are seven things I thought were worth sharing.
The line behind fact and opinion is so blurry, particularly on social media, that has become more fog than actual line. And, because of social media, we now have multiple places to share our opinions on everything. I think many can benefit from The Work Required To Have An Opinion.
Wanlov The Kublor always speaks his truth, regardless of the consequences. I have been following his music for some years now. In fact, I wrote two blog posts on him in 2010 The Skin I’m In and in 2011 Wanlov - A Fokn African Gypsy. He has recently put out an album White Card: The Artivist which carries on his activism, without compromise.
This tweet resonated hard with me.
I have a friend who is a multi-hyphenate across the creative sector who is constantly trying to, like many of us, find the balance between what he creates for ‘work’ and what he creates in general. I was recently saying to him that what he needs is to pick a project, for the sake of the project, which can occupy is time outside of work, for a few months. And then I came across this essay: A Project Of One’s Own.
I’ve been working my way through Mad Skills’ Hip Hop Confessions and just listened to the episode with will.i.am which is dope. He has an interesting way of looking at the world.
When it comes to most things, especially within the content/media space. While I recognise this, putting into practice for myself, continues to be a work-in-progress, particularly on my site. I did finally write a blog post on a topic I have been meaning to for a while now. Owning Your Platform.
I am a big believer in archiving. We, as Africans, don’t do enough of this. It’s depressing when I think of the sheer amount of content created by media houses across the continent and how it seems to disappear into the ether. I reckon PBS’s American Masters is a dope model that many could follow.

I would also appreciate it if you shared with a friend who might also like it.
I also welcome comments, thoughts, etc. A big thank you to those of you who have sent me messages.
